Pushing the Limits is a collection of book club materials and videos that spotlight ways in which all of us use STEM to push our personal limits, every day. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and math - and whether you know it or not - you and your community are using STEM to meet many of your daily challenges. It's also an integral part of many "thrillers" and other stories, as well as historical events. Get ready to start some lively discussions about how you and the world around you are pushing your limits through STEM every day, as you enjoy our series!
Go to our Themes page, to see the the topics for the Pushing the Limits series. Click on each one to find its suggested readings, discussion questions and beautifully produced videos.
The book lists for each theme contain everything from edge of the seat thrillers to timely non fiction.
Our Pushing the Limits videos include insightful author interviews and mini-documentaries that portray real-life people and communities. They introduce us to a rodeo rider, a chef, welders, farmers, and others who have found ways to push beyond their professional and personal limits. We also share stories showing ways in which individuals and communities are coping with climate change issues such as fires, water scarcity and a changing jobs landscape.
The discussion questions give your group a way to share observations and ideas about how STEM influenced the stories and and how it effects your daily lives.
